review: Era uma vez um Partita
Olá mais uma vez!
Já alguma vez tiveram um pano nas mãos que vos tenha feito palpitar o coração? Que cada vez que entrapam, tudo parece fazer sentido? Pois bem, eu já. E mesmo já tendo tido oportunidade de experimentar alguns panos, de várias blends, tramas, padrões, cores, nenhum me marcou como este 100% algodão branco. Estranho, não é?
Para vos explicar este namoro, quase digno de um conto de fadas, tenho que voltar atrás no tempo, talvez cerca de um ano, que foi quando comecei a estar mais atenta nos grupos de babywearing portugueses e ao #spam lá feito. Na altura ainda não era a viciada que sou hoje mas chamou-me a atenção um pano, por ter dos gradientes de azul mais bonitos que já tinha visto e o nome do marca ficou-me no ouvido – Emmeline. E olhem que sou péssima para nomes mas este, por algum motivo, ficou. Mais tarde veio mais #spam, desta vez de um outro modelo, o Partita, que, novamente, me deixou encantada.
O meu interesse na marca foi aumentando mas não se baseava num pano em específico. Simpatizei com a marca e quanto mais soube sobre ela mais gostei dos panos. A Emmeline é uma empresa criada por duas irmãs, a Jess e a Ali, sendo que é a segunda que é responsável por tear e por tingir à mão os panos, ambas são activas na sua comunidade de babywearing local, a Jess é consultora, e têm colaborações com negócios locais de forma a puderem participar em todas as fases de produção de cada pano, desde a escolha dos materiais a coserem as etiquetas. #BabywearingisCaring, certo? E esta marca parece fazer para valer isso. Caso se questionem – eu, pelo menos, tenho curiosidade em saber estas coisas (#triviastuff) – o nome da marca é na verdade o nome da única filha da Ali e o logotipo é inspirado no desenho feito ao seu perfil.
Tendo em conta que a marca é norte-americana (que diminui a probabilidade de haver um #panoviajante) e de não ser uma marca muito conhecida por cá, as probabilidades de ter a oportunidade de experimentar um eram reduzidas. Fui mantendo o meu namoro platónico pelas redes sociais, sem ser propriamente um ISO (in search of) mas com muita curiosidade. Pegando na analogia dos contos de fada, sentia-me como a princesa que está trancada na torre ou numa cabana no meio do nada, a imaginar o que será a vida fora dali – a única diferença é que eu não sou muito princesa e o meu príncipe encantado é na verdade, um pano!
Até que, recentemente em conversa, descobri que afinal havia uma pessoa cá com um Emmeline e que se ofereceu para mo experimentar – obrigada Carla!!!
Quando a encomenda chegou, a expectativa era mais que muita. Por vezes, isso não é bom porque depois pode levar a desilusão mas, felizmente, estava longe disso.
Este pano é a prova de que a beleza está realmente na simplicidade, qual Branca de Neve. É composto por 100% algodão penteado, sem qualquer tipo de tratamento de cor. A cor natural do algodão confere-lhe uma tonalidade de marfim. A sua trama é um padrão herringbone modificado, característico deste modelo Partita, que lhe confere uma textura e um aspecto único, que o torna fácil de reconhecer.
Mas o meu namoro platónico tornou-se uma paixão declarada depois de o experimentar. Sabem aquelas calças de ganga confortáveis que não querem tirar ou aqueles sapatos que vos fazem sentir como se estivessem de pantufas? Foi o que senti com este pano.
Apesar da sua gramagem, na mão não aparenta ser um pano grosso, tem boa diagonal e já me chegou bastante maleável – não sei exactamente como será novo, em loom state, mas, do que me pude informar, é um pano que não precisa de muita quebra. Fazer portes com múltiplas camadas, como o double hammock, que é o nosso porte de eleição neste momento, é fácil porque as camadas escorregam bem e para quem gosta de um chest pass (passagem no peito) justinho, como eu, este pano é perfeito.
Desde que o recebi, que o temos usado bastante. Tem bastante suporte, mesmo num porte com uma só camada, é muito confortável nos ombros e tem grip suficiente para não descair. Para além disso, não é propenso a fazer pulls, o que o torna um bom pano para o dia a dia – eu gosto de panos assim, práticos.
Agora que o Verão se aproxima e o calor começa a apertar, a questão “será muito quente?” torna-se mais frequente. Eu acho que essa questão é um pouco ingrata de se responder, porque existem inúmeros factores que interferem e a maior fonte de calor é mesmo o contacto corpo a corpo mas não é para discutir isso que vos estou a escrever. Em relação a este pano, a sua trama torna-o mais arejado e tem se portado muito bem nos dias mais quentes.
Mesmo a cor, que no início me assustou um pouco, foi me conquistando e acho que me tornei oficialmente uma #nattylover – eu que durante anos basicamente só usei preto! E gosto muito do contraste que faz com a etiqueta com o logotipo da marca que é preta, com o perfil em linhas brancas.
E, como qualquer conto de fada que se preze, tinha que ter um final feliz. E, depois de perceber que não o conseguia devolver (sentia borboletas no estômago cada vez que pensava que o tinha que o mandar), tornou-se meu. Aliás, nosso! É o primeiro pano que a minha filha escolhe para usarmos e isso torna-o #permastash.
É razão suficiente para dizer: e viveram felizes para sempre! – mesmo já tendo terminado a fase de deslumbramento.

review: Once upon a time, a Partita..
Hi again!
Have you ever had a wrap in your hands that made your heart skipped a beat? That every time you wore it, everything seemed to make sense? Well, I have. And although I’ve had the opportunity to try some wraps with various blends, wefts, colours, none made me feel like this white all-cotton. Weird, right?
To explain this crush, worthy of a fairy tale, I need to go back in time, about a year, when I started to be more aware on the Portuguese babywearing groups and on the #spam made. At that time I wasn’t the addict that I am today but there was a wrap that caught my eye, it had the most beautiful gradient of blue that I’ve seen and the name of the brand got stuck on my ear – Emmeline. I’m the worst person to memorize names but this one, for same reason, stayed in my memory. Later I saw more #spam, this time of a different pattern, the Partita, that once again left me amazed.
My interest in the brand got bigger but it wasn’t for a specific wrap. I sympathized with the brand and the more I knew about it the more I liked it. Emmeline is a company created by two sisters, Jess and Ali. Ali is responsible for weaving and hand-dying the wraps, but both of them are active in their local babywearing community, Jess is even a babywearing consultant, and they have collaborations with local companies which allows them to participate in every stage of creating a wrap, since choosing the materials to stitching the labels. #BabywearingisCaring, right? And they seem to try showing it. And in case you wonder – I, at least, am always curious about this kind of things (#triviastuff) – the name of the brand it’s actually the name of Ali’s only daughter and the logo is inspired in a drawing of her profile.
Since the brand is North American (which makes it harder to get a #travellingwrap) and it isn’t very known in Portugal, the probabilities of getting the chance to try one were reduced. I kept my platonic crush through social media, without being exactly an ISO (in search of) but with a great amount of curiosity. Using the fairy tale analogy, I felt like the princess locked in a tower or on a cottage in the middle of nowhere, wondering how life is out of there – the only difference is that I’m not very “princessy” and my prince charming is in fact a wrap!
And then, one day, in a conversation, I found out that there was actually one person with a Emmeline here, who offered to lend it to me – thank you Carla!!!
When the package arrived, the expectations were high. Sometimes that’s not very good, since it can lead to disappointment but, in this case, it was far from it.
This wrap is the proof that beauty is in the simple things, like in Snow White. It’s made from 100% combed cotton, with no colour treatment. The natural colour of cotton gives the wrap an ivory tone. The pattern is a modified herringbone, characteristic of the Partita model, giving texture and an unique look, that makes it easy to recognize.
But my crush became a declared passion after the first up. Do you know those pair of jeans that you can’t take off or those shoes that makes you feel you are using slippers? That’s what I felt with this wrap.
Although it has 320 GSM, in hand it doesn’t feel too thick, has a good diagonal and arrived to me already very mouldable – I don’t know exactly how it feels new, in loom state, but from what I could find out, it doesn’t need a lot of breaking in. Doing multiple layers carries, like a double hammock, which is our number one carry at the moment, it’s easy because the layers slide well and, for the ones who like a sleek chest pass like me, this is perfect.
Since I got it, we have been using it a lot. It’s very supportive and, even with a single layer carry, it’s very comfortable on the shoulders and is has the right amount of grip so it doesn’t get sloppy. Besides, it’s not pull prone, being a good wrap for day-to-day – I like my wraps like that, practical.
Now that the summer is near and we can already feel the warm weather, the question “is it too hot?” becomes frequent. I feel that questions is a bit ungrateful to answer because there are numerous factors that we need to keep in mind and the biggest heat source is body-to-body but that’s not what I am here to discuss. Regarding this wrap, it’s pattern makes it more airy and it has been behaving well in the warmer days.
Even the colour of it, that in the beginning made me a bit affraid, got to me e I am now an official #nattylover – me, who wore mostly black for years!
Like any proper fairy tale it had to have a happy ending. And after I realized I wasn’t able to return it (I felt butterflies every time I thought of sending it) it became mine. Actually, it became ours! Its the first wrap my daughter chooses for us to wear and that makes it #permastash.
It’s reason to say: and they lived happily ever after! – even after the dazzling phase finished.
